The 95-year old house was carefully renovated in 2019 to be comfortable while retaining its traditional charm. Beginning with a traditional Japanese entryway, Kenkun House features downstairs with heated flooring, a fully equipped kitchenette, dining area, zen-style garden, a deep Japanese bath and upstairs provides a raised tatami sleeping area. With finely crafted custom-made furniture, dining ware from regional kilns, decorated with folk paintings and art, Kenkun House introduces guests to an intimate and very special sampling of Japanese arts and craft.
Kenkun House is available for rent from a minimum of 3 days to a month’s stay in a quiet old residential neighborhood between scenic Kenkun Shrine and the famous Zen temple of Daitoku-ji. The location has many local shops and eateries and is convenient to city bus lines. The house can accommodate 2 people on futon upstairs and with a small sofa bed for a child on the first floor.
